Happy 2006!

I hope everyone has a Happy 2006. For me, I want an improvement over 2005. I think I need to write down my ideas as I have them, instead of thinking I will remember them and then forgetting.
All my life I wanted to be a scuba diver. I am an instructor for several agencies. I stay in electronics mainly for the money and because I care what my parents think. I think I'd be much happier in the dive industry. When I worked in the US, I had my electronics job from 7 am till 3:30 pm then I went to the dive shop at 4 till the evening. Here, it is not so easy to have two jobs. Another thing I think about is getting old and retiring. How can I take a job with a quarter of the pay and ever think about retiring? On the other hand, even now, I can't see ever being able to afford to retire. I see myself working till I die. I would like to be successful. To me, being successful means being able to quit work and have fun while I'm still young enough to enjoy it. this year I need to figure out how to do that.
Have a great day and a Happy New Year!

I think I'm in the same boat as you. I don't want to do what I'm doing anymore. I want to love my job. I want live where it's warm and make a decent salary so I could retire. Doesn't look like it's going to happen for me either. We have to find rich partners who will keep us well into our old age!

I hear ya, Mark D. I have the same thoughts. My job is pretty dull, but I have the state retirement working for me. Of course, that's still 16 years away. Yikes. Maybe we'll strike it rich some other way. Happy New Year!

i consider success to be loving your life. if your job is something you love there's no need to worry about retiring from it.
go teach.

Let me know if you figure it out (how to "be able to quit work and have fun while I'm still young enough to enjoy it." ;) Sure sounds like a fine idea to me!

Happy New Year!

I too need to see the world while I'm young enough to enjoy it. My junk going on Ebay just isn't going to get me to N. Ireland I don't think.

2006 should be a year of Master Plans!
Wish me luck on the new NC Lottery!
