10 kilos of ganja

Yesterday we went geocaching. (There's a link on the right side of the page that will tell you all about geocaching) We didn't find the cache, but we did find about 10 kilos of ganja, which we gave to the police. In the picture, I'm carrying two packages while the police officer is carrying three!

I'm here on the Brac. Typing this on my phone. I have a Treo 650 phone/Palm
Today we don't have much plans. This afternoon the OI Girls Cousin and
boyfriend arrives. I've met her before when I was in Costa Rica. It's going
to be fun. Today should be a nice day.
My alarm went off at 3:30 but I just turned it off. I hope to study today.
I got a 100% on my last test. ACE!

Friday, December 29, 2006

It's friday, I am not worth a hill-a-beans today. I don't plan on doing any work and I'm going to the brac this afternoon.

Remember what I said about jinxing myself? the phone just rang and now I have to go fix something.

Taxes?? The US 'takes the cake' (and everything else)!

This is from an email I received, it's not funny. Before I moved out of the US, I worked two full time jobs for 10 years and ate the cheapest noodles and beans and often saw people buying steak and shrimp and paying with food stamps.

Be sure to read all the way to the end!

Tax his land,
Tax his bed,
Tax the table
At which he's fed.

Tax his tractor,
Tax his mule,
Teach him taxes
Are the rule.

Tax his cow,
Tax his goat,
Tax his pants,
Tax his coat.

Tax his ties,
Tax his shirt,
Tax his work,
Tax his dirt.

Tax his tobacco,
Tax his drink,
Tax him if he
Tries to think.

Tax his cigars,
Tax his beers,
If he cries, then
Tax his tears.

Tax his car,
Tax his gas,
Find other ways
To tax his ass

Tax all he has
Then let him know
That you won't be done
Till he has no dough.

When he screams and hollers,
Then tax him some more,
Tax him till
He's good and sore.

Then tax his coffin,
Tax his grave,
Tax the sod in
Which he's laid.

Put these words
upon his tomb,
"Taxes drove me
to my doom..."

When he's gone,
Do not relax,
Its time to apply
The inheritance tax.

Accounts Receivable Tax
Building Permit Tax
CDL license Tax
Cigarette Tax
Corporate Income Tax
Dog License Tax
Federal Income Tax
Federal Unemployment Tax (FUTA)
Fishing License Tax
Food License Tax,
Fuel permit tax
Gasoline Tax (42 cents per gallon)
Hunting License Tax

Marriage License Tax
Medicare Tax
Property Tax
Real Estate Tax
Service charge taxes
Social Security Tax
Road usage taxes
Sales Tax
Recreational Vehicle Tax
School Tax
State Income Tax
State Unemployment Tax (SUTA)
Telephone federal excise tax

Telephone minimum usage surcharge tax
Telephone recurring and non-recurring charges tax
Telephone state and local tax

Workers Compensation Tax

COMMENTS: Not one of these taxes existed 100 years ago,
and the US was the most prosperous nation in the world.
We had absolutely no national debt, had the largest middle class
in the world, and Mom stayed home to raise the kids.
What happened?
And NOW I have to "press 1" for English?

Eye Mat wok

It feels like Monday and I'm at work. The coffee is going. Friday we're going to the Brac for New Years. The OI Girls cousin and boyfriend are coming. It will be fun.
Here's a pic of a neighbors choo choo train I took yesterday morning. Early. I have another one non-blurred but it looks better blurred.

Boxing Day

It's Boxing Day, that's the day after Christmas where you have a day off to throw away all the empty boxes all your gifts came in.
I'm kidding.
Last night, the OI girl and I were driving around, starving because all the restaurants were closed and I remember doing the same thing last year. I'd think it'd be a big day for the restaurants and they wouldn't all be closed. We went to a Hotel Restaurant and they were so packed we didn't want to wait. We ended up going back to the sushi place.
Today there's allegedly 10 cruise ships in, but it's all cloudy so I haven't been to the beach to see.

Christmas Morning

I've been thinking about those floor plans on my previous post. I was at my friends condo, it is huge. All the rooms are gigantic and there are three floors. It is amazing how much room is in there. When I told him my plans were 2600 square feet, he said that was larger than the condo. Maybe I'll have the plans re-done to be smaller.
Well, it's Christmas Morning. I got up to do my studying and sneak out the presents I got for the OI girl. I can't study.
I'm scared that the things I got for her aren't good enough, that she'll secretly be disappointed.
I'm scared I've forgotton someone, or someone will stop by who has a present for me and I don't have a present for them.
I'm trying to have a better attitude but I just can't seem to.
Bah Humbug.
I'm Jewish. I grew up mostly in a little town in Missouri where I was the only Jewish kid in the school system. (My sister is 5 years younger than me, the only time we were in the same school was her first year and my fifth. I had a brother who was 7 years younger.)
I took a lot of crap from other kids and felt like an outsider. (Hey Jew-Boy!) Sometimes even my "friends" would turn on me. I hated being forced to sing Christmas Carols in school, (even the administration was an enemy). I still can't stand those mindless jingles to this day.
My family celebrated both Christmas and Hannukah because my Mom wasn't Jewish.
The nearest synagogue was an hours drive away. We drove there for Sunday school (killing a day of my precious weekends, and further separating me from my friends from school). All the kids from the synagogue knew each other and hung out together and I felt like I was an outsider there too. If it was a Jewish holiday, it was on a Saturday, and I'd lose the whole weekend.
Jews tell me I'm not a Jew, which makes me insanely angry. And I definitely will never be a Christian. Where I work, we broadcast a lot of church services, and I always hear the pastor telling the congregation lies like: "when Moses parted the Red Sea, and they were safely across, they stopped and prayed and said "Thank you Jesus".
What shit.
I think the most sensible religion on this planet is Buddhism.

scans of the plans

if it costs $100 a square foot to build....

The top of the roof has a sundeck on it. You should be able to see the sea from there.

The bottom is unfinished. More can be added later.

The inside is nothing fancy. Big back porch.

Glad it's not Monday!

Well, to me it's Monday to you it's Thursday. Payback time huh? I have to work Saturday too.

Today is the December Solstice, the longest night and the shortest day in the northern hemisphere. That means tomorrow will be longer than today and the days will start getting longer. It's the first day of winter in the Northern Hemisphere. Here winter starts at about 7:23 PM tonight. That is the instant the sun would be directly overhead at the Tropic of Capricorn.

I made a sundial but I left it at home.

I got a plan from the architect. I don't think I can afford to build what I have planned. I don't know what I an gunna do. Maybe sell my house in the US.

I'm kind of rambling around. I plan on goofing off at work today, but since I wrote that I plan on goofing off, i have jinxed myself and everything will go wrong. But since I wrote that I jinxed myself, maybe it won't. except since I wrote maybe it won't, it probably will.
Oh Nevermind!

Red Pictures

Tainted sponge

It seemed OK without a flash (This is the OI Girl scootering)

Back on land with the U/W white balance adjustment.

Here's some of the pictures that came out red from day-before yesterday. I'm back to work tomorrow. My Mom and sister left yesterday.

Monday, December 18, 2006

My computer has been in its bag all weekend. I'm at the OI Girls right now,
typing this on my phone.
My Mom and sister are at my apartment, I am staying at the OI girls.
I'm kinda getting tired of it sometimes but everything is OK really.
The OI Girl has ab ex-co-worker over, staying on the sofa, which means I
couldn't study this morning. Bummer. I'm thinking I'll never get that
course finished.
Yesterday we went diving and I was conducting some experiments with the
white balance on my camera and everything came out red. But it's
interesting because red is the first color to disappear when you descend so
it's pretty cool. The pics aren't worth posting though, in fact they're
still on my camera.
Well that's about all for today. More later!

shooting stars

It's Thursday night. I didn't get to post this morning because of studying and cleaning.
I got my Mom and sister from the airport. They are both out in the kitchen talking to the OI Girl. She likes them so that's a good thing.
This morning when I was walkig the dawg there were a lot of shooting stars. There is a metor shower this time of year. Go look, you can probably see about one shooting star a minute.
Soon OI and I will be going to the OI Girls to sleep.
Ciao for now!

Your Wednesday, my FRIDAY!

Tomorrow I start a vacation! So today is my last day and it is also my split shift day!
This morning I was walking the dog and it was nice and clear, I could see the summer constellations, so for all your winterites, summer is coming! (Dec 21 is the longest day in the northern hemisphere).
I plan on going to the beach at lunch and tomorrow I pick up my Mom and sister at the airport.

today. . .

Last night after I got home I was exhausted but douldn't sleep. Then around 2:00 am I got the idea The OI Girl was keeping me awake on purpose and I got a little snippy. The dog was pacing, and the rain was falling and it was thundering.
THis morning I apologized for getting angry. But the OI Girl is still sore about it.
I got to work this morning I find that others had trouble sleeping too.
I didn't get up at 3:30 to study, when the alarm went off, I set it for 5am and got up then.
This chapter I am on is very tough. I've been on it a week and I'm just over half way.
Not feeling too good today. . .

Most boring

My blog has been boring because my life has been boring. I am back at work after a long, boring weekend of clouds and rain. No beach, no diving. I feel like I've been saying that for months.
Thursday I start some vacation days. My Mom and Sister are coming for a few days, and I have vacation to use or loose. I know the weather will be better, because it can't get any worse!
I did watch a good movie this weekend. Oscar, with Sylvester Stallone. It's about a gangster who's father makes him promise to go legit. It is not typical of Stallone and is very funny. It's worth seeing.
Tonight I have a broadcast of the National Choir, and I hope it quits raining by then.
Have you a good week!

Saturday Cloudy windy cold

Another weekend is upon us, here it's cold and windy and tooo wavy for diving. My poooor rebreather is suffocating from dehydration!
it IS however, a good weekend for studying!

first thought

My first thought when I heard the alarm go off this morning was something like: "that's too loud, you can wake somebody up with that thing. Then "Oh yeah".
I got up, it's Friday Yeay!
I am stuck on a chapter of my studies. I think it's not english. I understand each word but not the sentences. I started over this morning, going through paragraph by paragraph, writing "OK" next to each after I understand it.
At this rate it will take 250 years to complete the course.

perfect timing

I've had this window opened on my computer for a couple of hours now and still haven't typed anything.
I never made it to the beach yesterday, the OI girl had a stomach ache, and I went to the doctors with her. It was perfect timing, she called me at quarter till twelve, 15 minutes before I was leaving, I drove home, followed her to the doctors, which is about 5 minutes walk from where I work. Then I sat in the waiting room with her and waited while she saw the doctor. We got done just in time for me to go back to work.
I feel like having a hard time analyzing my view of reality right now.
And that's all I have to say.

typical Wednesday (I hope)

Our trip to Little Cayman got "delayed". There was a problem with the tickets.
Last night was the 41st Annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony. It was typical, choir, singing, speeches etc. I was there, broadcasting it live.
Today is my split shift day. It looks like nice weather, looking forward to the beach at lunch.

The OI girl, the actress

The OI girl doesn't like her job. The company she works for is the same company she worked for on the Other Island, and they created a position for her when she moved because she was such a valuable employee. However, the people here at her new job don't know that. They have her doing bullshit work and she is unchallenged and bored. At her old job, when the manager was gone, everyone came to her because she could deal with any situation and was naturally and automatically in charge. Even her old boss would (on rare occasions) come to her lost and ask "what should we do?" The OI Girl and her old boss are now the best of friends. Here, the OI Girl doesn't have a lot of friends. Most of her friends are on the Other Island. When I am crabby or nasty it affects her more than I know. It's a real challenge for me to not be mean and take out my other problems on her. She always tries to make me happy and she almost always does a good job.
The people she works with now don't know what they have.
The other day, she said she was thinking about auditioning for a role in a play. She went last night and invited me to go with her. I declined. I want her to make some friends without me there and I also know some of the people involved so I figured she'd be OK. She came home very excited. she got a good part. She's only in a few scenes but she has a lot of lines. The Play is called "The Judth Code" and her role is Rosie King, an evil journalist.

I'm thinking about showing her my blog, but I'm still leaning more towards not. I've never showed it to anyone.

Missed posts.

I didn't even take my computer out of its bag all weekend, hence, no posts. I don't like it, when I don't post, but it is kind of difficult, because the OI Girl doesn't know about this blog and I would feel kind of funny sneaking. I suppose I could just email a post from my phone, or show the OI Girl this blog. We didn't get along too well this weekend, the OI Girl and I.
Another thing, I keep trying to switch to the Blogger Beta version of blogger, but can't. According to their help file, there's no reason I can't, unless this blog falls into the exceptionally large category, which I don't think it does.
I have a very busy week planned this week. I'm (hopefully) going to Little Cayman this Wednesday for the day for work. I'll definitely take a lot of pics that day!
Have a good week!

Late Post Today

I'm posting late today, I had a broadcast early this morning. Well, not too early, a little early. I'm sure you were all listening online. Any after the broadcast and I was taking down the equipment, a (pretty) young woman came up to me and asked me my name and said she reads my blog every day. I asked her if she was the one who left the Gigs not Jigs comment and she said yes. I told her I never met anyone who read my blog before, afterwords I realized that that's not true. Once a Jeff and Lisa introduced themselves in the dive shop parking lot while they were here visiting. And there's one other too. The truth I meant to say is that I've never told anyone I know about my blog. Even that's kinda not true, I mentioned this blog to my Pen pal in Italy in an email, but he never replied that he read it, and I've never met him, so I don't know if that counts
Anyway this particular woman told me she has a blog too but she's only made one post. . . Hmmm. She also told me that there's another person very close to me who reads this every day too. I explained to her about how the counters work and that I could tell I had some people on local ISP's reading my blog.
It's good. I've kinda known you've been reading for a long time, so keep reading, If you have a blog, write on it, and if you don't, get your own blog too and don't be scared. My email address is in my profile. If you read this leave a comment so I can tell, and all that jazz.
