Friday, but like a Saturday

Today is Friday, but the Wife has the day off, so it seems like Saturday! I think we're going diving

Last night I went to bed and didn't get up till just now. Normally I wake up at about 3, get up, walk around, maybe listen to a little shortwave, solve all the worlds problems, go back to bed, and wake up, forgetting the solution.

Last night I dreamed I had a little tiny baby, I was holding him in my arms and he was sleeping with his head on my shoulder. I have never had such a dream! He had eyes just like mine!

Ukraine burning animals alive

Ukrainian Authorities are now using a mobile crematorium to exterminate stray animals. The local government bought a mobile crematorium for the disposal of stray animals as part of Football Preparations for Eurofoot 2012..

The captured animals are thrown alive into the oven to 900 degrees C. according to locals, the dogs and cats are burned alive.

The concentration of stray animals is not critical and can easily be controlled. The problem of stray animals to be solved by sterilization. It is horrifying to learn the problem of stray animals in the Luhansk region in the town Lysychansk in Eastern Ukraine is being "solved" in this way and ignoring their own Laws on Cruelty to Animals. Article from here

In my opinion, this is outrageous and no country, government or person should ever think any part of the rest of humanity will stand by and tolerate this. The citizens of Ukraine should be physically stopping the operators of these crematorium trucks.

Baseball

You'll find I haven't mentioned baseball much in this blog, in fact only once, here, a long time a go. But this years Baseball Playoffs will be worth watching.

Not The Caped Crusader

Yesterday, I got soaked on my scooter in the rain. I could tell it was raining "over there" and tried to ride my way out of it, but didn't make it. I got hit by such a wall of water that I didn't have time to put on my raincoat till I was already soaked. When I did get it on, the zipper broke from the bottom to the top, and the only thing holding it on was the metal piece that slides up and down, zipping and unzipping. It looked like I was wearing a cape, with my big ol fat belly sticking out.

In order to preserve the delightful image you have from this, I will not be posting a photo today.

So Happens It's Tuesday (S.H.I.T.)

Redskins lost.. In the words of the internationally acclaimed, world famous blogger (and Dallas Cowboys fan) Yellowdog Granny: "Fuckety fuckety fuck fuck fuck". (That's what she said when Dallas lost last week). It was a really good game, keeping me on the edge of my seat. Washington lost with about 20 seconds left when the quarterback lost a fumble on the drive the Skins needed to WIN!

And now for something completely different:
The president of the All Iguanas International, getting ready to make a speech.

A zoom in and crop of an aeroplane.

A front end loader soon to be lost to the brush. (The front end loader is here to clear the brush, but now it would seem the brush is winning, (not unlike Dallas beating my Redskins)

An underwater picture (from last Sunday), apparently, squirrel fish are the only ones who will let me take their picture.

Monday Bullet Post

· I think this week is going to be weird because The Wife worked yesterday, Sunday, throwing things off-kilter globally. Heck, I suspect even satellites are falling because of this.

· I need a way to increase the volume of my business. Waiting for the phone to ring drives me crazy, harassing my few clients drives me crazy. I want an office and shop. No way the business can support this at this time.

· I’m trying to show favoritism for our cat BTK. When I feed them other cats shove her out of the way and she allows it. She’s the Mom and all the rest are her kittens. But there’s food for all, and there needs to be no shoving going on. When the cats shove her aside, I try to shove them aside, but I can tell this is confusing for the cats.

· Tonight my favorite NFL team, the Washington Redskins play their rival Dallas Cowboys. I’d like to go see this game somewhere I could smoke a cigar.

· I thought I’d have a lot more bullet points for this post, but I’m apparently running out of steam.

· I really really like the widget I posted in my sidebar, that shows the live traffic feed. It seems that a lot of old posts get hit quite frequently, mostly “Fed Ex Whoops UPS’s Butt” and “A Movie Called RED

Maybe I spend too much time on Facebook

I sometimes wish Blogger had a like button like Facebook. There's a lot of times I really like someones comment, and there seems to be an automatic reaction to press the Like button, even when there isn't one. Heck, most of the time, people leave comments more entertaining than my post in the first place!
I'm not saying Blogger should try to be more like FB, not at all, no way, no how It's just that when I read something I really like, I sometimes wish there was a Like button, to let others know I liked what I read.

Need another 10 feet

In the mornings, from my roof, I can see the cruise ships come in while they are out at sea, but I can't see them when they reach port (Drop anchor) in town. . Yesterday, I took a broomstick, put my camera on the end, stood in a chair, and took a pic whilst holding the camera high as I could over my head. This is with no zoom.
I can see the cruise ships, there's two, and if you click the pic to enlarge, you may see the stacks. But anyway, I think I need another 1o feet to stand on to be able to satisfactorily see town from my roof.

It's Friday, and I'm very glad. I don't know why I'm glad, but I'm glad.

Sincerely Hoping Ur Thursdays Excellent (S.H.U.T.E.)

Thursday, beautiful day, crystal clear. (right now)

I had a lot of dreams last night. I'm not going to go into it, I started telling my wife and she said Dang! How do you remember all that?
One was about a bathroom and the other was about a hilltop resort with a metal road around back that goes all over these woods and cliffs.

It was really hard to wake up this morning.

Here's some random pictures for today.

Wrecking My Target

I found a toy fish net on the beach and put in in the yard for a slingshot target. It works really well, and if you are accurate, you get your ammo back!
Yesterday I found the cats using my target as a playground or some kind of hammock!
C'mon Mom, keep your kids in line!

Why don't you cats keep the chickens outta my yard instead?

Awww Dangit!

(The target is for my slingshot which I use against chickens who take advantage of other chickens. I hate to see the strong ones intimidate the weaker to get more food. Also chickens who come around and try to steal food from the cats. My ammo are these light round seeds that can't travel fast and won't hurt anything).

Jimi Hendrix

September 19, 1970, Jimi Hendrix died of a drug overdose. I never really liked most of his music. But it seems to be getting better as I get older. Same as The Doors and The Who, when I was young I didn't care for them, but they've gotten better with age. This week I must mow the lawn, I've been putting it off so long, if I'd a done it when I first should have, I'd be needing to do it again now anyway.
And I have to rustle up some work. That radio station I've been working on hopefully will be finished this week.
Saturday, we bought a slow cooker and tested it out Sunday with some beef stew. It came out pretty good but was done in about 4 hours instead of 10.

Diabolical Genius

I have a small flashlight rubber-banded on the handlebars of my bicycle as a headlight. It's more for cars to be able to see me than to illuminate my way. (Also I think there's a law that says bicycles must have a headlight at night, but most don't.) I noticed that my "headlight" was a little dim last time, so I bought two new "C" cell coppertops to replace the batteries.
Turns out, that when you buy batteries, you get a free flashlight, just like in the picture above. Turns out the flashlight takes "D" cells, which I don't have, so I need batteries.

It's a big plot I tell ya! If I buy batteries, I'll get another flashlight and need two more batteries, if I buy more batteries, I'll get another light and need even more batteries and.....

Culling Course

Last night I took the required course and filled out an Lionfish Culling application. Or as I like to say, "Lionfish Killing"

From the Cayman Islands Department of Environment Facebook page:

The Red Lionfish (Pterois volitans) started its invasion of the Cayman Islands with the first one found in Little Cayman. Practically a year later Grand Cayman had its first reported sighting. Since then the Cayman Islands Department of Environment has been working hard to promote awareness of this invasive species and with the ...enormous help from an outstanding team of licensed cullers, we have seen many hundreds removed from our waters.

In a week I should have my license, then I will apply for the speargun permit. I don't want to catch lionfish, I don't want to eat lionfish. I don't want to get stung by a lionfish. I just want to help prevent them from taking over the reef.

Pura Vida

Today is Costa Rica independence day. 190 years since they claimed their independence from Spain. My wife picked todays T-Shirt for me!
I'm trying the new Blogger interface. Not too sure I like it, but it's been a whole 30 seconds.
Where's my colored squares? Everything is white. Where's my 'Edit HTML'?
It looks like Wordpress.

UPDATE: The new interface would not work with Networked Blogs, so I'm re posting this post and deleting the original

The Long Walk

I just finished a book called "The Long Walk" by Stephen King. It's about this game show, once a year where 100 people start walking at at least 4 miles per hour, if they slow down, they get 3 warnings, then POW! They get shot dead. They have to keep walking till there's only one left and he's the winner of the game show.

Yesterday I did my own version of the Long Walk. I took my scooter in for some repairs and had the repair place's courtesy shuttle drop me off at the grocery store, where I had an egg sandwich. Then I crossed the street to the beach and walked all the way up 7 Mile Beach to the end, got on the road, and walked the rest of the way home. Below is a Google Earth view of where I walked, starting at the bottom and ending at the top. Of course, I didn't do the beeline course the yellow line shows, I curved along the shore and roads, about 3 hours solid walking. In the book, the long walk ended on the 5th day. Below are some pics I took on MY long walk!

Good Weekend

It was a good weekend overall, Saturday wasn't great because the Wife had to work, and it was cloudy and threatening to rain all day. (It DID rain everywhere except here, at our house)\

Sunday we went to the beach, and it was hot and sunny, with the occasional cloud drifting by. You could see it raining down the beach, but not where we were.

Also, my Washington Redskins won! and the Dallas Cowboys lost! Can't ask for more!

feels Like Friday

It feels like Friday, but it's not. I've been busy this week and every day I come home brain tired. Wake up brain dead-get home brain tired! That's me!
I like to wake up early, get dressed and ready to go and have time to read some blog posts, drink some coffee, and act like I got up for more than going to work. This morning it took much more than the alloted time to find socks. I found a dozen pairs of blue socks, but I needed white or gray socks. I finally found one in the dryer and one on top of the dresser, but where are all my socks? If I needed blue I'd only find tons of gray and/or white socks. These are the problems I have to deal with throughout my day.
I'm going to try to finish up at the new radio station today, and just neaten up tomorrow. I've almost completed the studio, and the transmitter can't go in yet because of some electrical permits or something. So I'll be going back later for that. Also I need to put in the production studio which should take only a day or so.

No blog post is complete without a photo, so here is a random photo for today.

Work

I have been busy this week (yesterday) putting in a new radio station. If only every week could be like this, work-wise.
This morning, I woke up a little early, and went up on the roof. I was looking in the right place at the right time, and saw the sun peek over the horizon. I think it's the first time I ever saw the sun actually come up from the roof. Usually I blink and miss it, or get there too late or too early.
Yesterday, I said good by to Mir. Here's the last photo. He seemed perfectly OK, eating, feeling good. He seemed greatly greatly improved. He wouldn't hold still enough for a picture.

Goodbye to Mir

The vet told me that the cat probably cannot ever be an outdoor cat because of his head trauma. They have a program that finds homes for dogs and cats and the vet said Mir would be a good candidate if we OK it. She (the Vet) guarantees the Mir would never be put to sleep.

I discussed it with the wife. We cannot have an indoor cat because of our killer dogs, so today I will go say goodbye to Mir, and give him to the vet.

Everyone at the vets office loves Mir. He purrs as soon as you touch him. He's a beautiful cat. He has black stripes on his head and golden brown stripes on his cheeks.

I love Mir too, and am very sad I can't keep him and take care of him forever.

Short Monday Post

I woke up at 2 again last night, after dreams about being stuck in a maze again. I almost got up, because I felt so wide awake, but I stayed in bed, and the next thing I knew it was 6 AM.

Today should be a busy day and this week should be busy too. I'll tell you more about it tomorrow.

Today we have to get Mir the cat back, suddenly, we ARE concerned with the size of the bill from the vet.

More on the cat

I went to visit the cat yesterday. What a cutie. I probably spent an hour there. The cat seemed to like me! Hopefully he'll be coming home today or tomorrow. Since his name obviously isn't Leroy, I'm looking for another name. He has very intricate stripes and two spots on the top/back of his head, like a cobras hood. I'm thinking about re-naming him Mir, as in miracle. Mir is also a Russian word that means "Peace" and "Earth".

When I told the tale to The Wife, she said "Uh-Oh!". She knows I'm hooked!

Of course, he may be someones cat, and when I bring him here he just may run home and we'll never see him again.

I woke up at 2:30 this morning, feeling like the only person on earth I'm too old for this shit. I'm the same as I was 25 years ago, looking for a job 'fixing things', I haven't grown or moved up a bit. I still don't know what I want to do or what I want to "be when I grow up", I'm just doing this because it's what I've always done, and it's what I think my father wanted. I wish that cat was here, now it the time to hold a purring cat in your lap.

Post Entitled: "It's Not Leroy" or, "Another Pool of Blood"

Five minutes after my Wife left for work yesterday, she called me, distraught. A cat ran under her car and got hit. I rushed to the scene, a block away, and there was the cat in the road, in a pool of blood, exactly like the guy I found a couple of months ago. The cat was breathing, fast and shallow, but didn't look squished anywhere. I had a towel, and put the cat on it, and took him to the vet. My wife said it was our cat Leroy, and I thought it was too, till yesterday evening, when I fed the cats and all 6 were there, including Leroy. So, it's not Leroy. The injured cat's not out of the woods yet, he (or she) took a serious hit to the head, bleeding from the nose and a big blood teardrop when I picked him up. But in my gut I think the cat will be OK. I'm glad I took the cat to the vet, and I'm glad it wasn't Leroy. I'll pay and let the cat go. I'm glad the cat didn't lay in the road unconscious till the next car came and squished him.

See a pic of the 'Not Leroy' cat in the vet's office
