Beach Club

The Beach Club is one of the original hotels on Seven Mile Beach. Soon it will be torn down and replaced with another faceless 7 story condo, just like all the other faceless 7 story buildings on Seven Mile Beach. When I first moved here, there was The Holiday, Inn, Beach Club, the Westin, The Marriotte, The Hyatt, and Treasure Island. There were a few 3 story condos and the rest was beach with pine trees and sea grapes. Now there's hardly any more undeveloped beachfront property, and you can count all the pine trees (casurinas) on your fingers and toes.
It is sad to see this last original Seven Mile Beach hotel go.

It's the weekend, I'm diving today, open circuit, no rebreather. Then going to hang out and get some sun somewhere.

Earthquake

Did I mention we had an earthquake last week? I didn't feel it, The Wife didn't feel it. I don't want to minimize it, because a lot of people were scared and freaked out. The only damage I heard about was a sinkhole in some oceanfront apartments. I got this picture from someone in Bonaire, and I thought I got it before the quake, but later, realized I got it immediately after it. Wonder how it got me from Bonaire faster than I would have heard about it from our newsroom. (You DO know I work at a Radio Station, right?)
Also Pat Robertson (The most evil creature on Earth) said Haiti was cursed or something. ant that's why they had an earthquake. Well here's a cartoon from the local paper about that! I love this cartoon! That there's some funny stuff, I don't care WHO you are!

I had a counter, from eXTReMe Tracking at the bottom of my page. I noticed yesterday that they hijacked me. If you let the page load, then it would leave my page and take the viewer to their page.
I had to take it off of my template and clear my browser cache to get rid of them bastads!
At least it gave me something to post about today!

Long Live Taco Bell

The Founder of Taco Bell died very recently. Taco Bell is my favorite fast food restaurant, in fact, now that I think about it, it's the only fast food restaurant I like at all.

Glen W. Bell Jr., founder of the Taco Bell chain, died Saturday night at his home in Rancho Santa Fe. He was 86. In 1978, he sold his 868 Taco Bell restaurants to PepsiCo for $125 million in stock. He had suffered from Parkinson’s disease for three decades before he died.

You can see the influence of the big corporation owning the business. All the new fancy weird combos and things like 7 Layer Burritos and fried stuff. After so long, it seems odd to call them new. But I remember when Taco Bell just had Tacos and Burritos basically. My favorite things there are still the things that were on Mr. Bells original menu. Gimme gimme a half a dozen plain ol tacos please!

Finally A Friday

It's Friday, I'm working the late shift today because of an outside broadcast.
Last night the weatherman was talking about all the sun yesterday. I didn't see the sun, I was working. It was cloudy when I went in to work, it was cloudy every time I saw a window and it was cloudy when I got out of work. Not seeing the sun bums me out.
The weatherman said it will be windy and mostly partly cloudy all weekend. Hope he's wrong.

Here it has been cloudy for a long time, seems like. Although it is clear now.

Lately I've been thinking about my blue Mares fins, I want to start using them more. I can't actually remember the last time I went snorkeling or had a beach lunch hour.

AVATAR

Last night I went to see the movie AVATAR, (the Wife treated me). It was probably the coolest movie I ever saw in my life. If you haven't seen it, go see it. The funny thing is that I hadn't hear anything about it before I saw it. I think I read on blogger that someone saw it. I mean, I knew there was a movie out called Avatar, but I knew nothing else. It was Really good.

Also yesterday afternoon/evening I went to a financial planning seminar. For the past six months or so, I haven't been able to make ends meet, and have been taking money out of savings to pay the bills. I need to get on a budget, and get my fianaces sorted to prevent myself from going down the pipes.

Tremendous Pressure

Today I can't think of anything to post. The pressure to come up with a post is crushing. I just woke up with a headache, the coffeepot just finished making "The Sound" which means it's time for coffee.

Yesterday my old dawg peed on the back porch. I walked by and he had a leg up, looking at me, not even trying to hide. Bastard. I yelled "WTF ARE YOU DOING!" and he took off running. I chased him down, dragged him back to the peepool and whacked him on the ass. Both dawgs know how to ask if they want a walk. Nobody asked, we had recently had our regularly scheduled walk, and it wasn't a time in which we normally take a walk. He just thought it would be cool to pee on the back porch.

Hair Mayonnaise, My wife actually has some, I was unpacking the groceries and my first thought was "How Gross" and I didn't want to put it in the fridge. It doesn't go in the fridge, it goes in the bathroom.

unpredictable weather

I woke up expecting sunny skies and got clouds and drizzle. The cold front isn't supposed to be here till tomorrow.

What do you think about the security breach at the Newark New Jersey USA airport? The guy went and hugged his girlfriend good bye. I think the airport security is trying to blame him for their incompetence.

Joke of the Day

There was this drunk guy in a crowded bar. This young woman came up to the bar to get a drink. She put her hand on the drunks chair and waved to the bartender for a drink. The drunk turned around and got an eyeful of the womans very hairy armpits. Turning around to the bar, he called to the bartender "Bartender! Bring this ballerina a drink!" The bartender brings her a drink, she disappears into the crowd.

A while later, the same woman comes back and waves to the bartender to get another drink. The same drunk turns around, and sees the womans hairy armpit right in his face.
"Bartender! Bring the ballerina another drink!", yells the drunk.

The bartender brings the woman a drink, and off she goes, into the crowd. The bartender turns to the drunk "You come in here all the time, I know you've never seen that woman before. What makes you think she's a ballerina?"

The drunk replied, "Anybody who can lift their leg that high, HAS to be a ballerina!"

Estudio Espanol

One of my New Years resolutions is to study Spanish. I have the Rosetta Stone CD. I've been getting up early and studying. What doesn't impress me is that it doesn't seem to remember where you were or what you've done, and the voice they play to speak Spanish is too fast and sounds like Mickey Mouse on helium, even at the slow speed. Also, when it records me, it cuts off the first half second of what I say, even though I wait for the beep. This means the beep has nothing to do with the recording, it activates when it hears my voice.
We'll see how it goes. Usually the mass marketed stuff is a disappointment.

First Work Day

It's the first work day of 2010. UGH, help me get through.
Here it is very windy, cloudy and cold.
I had a good weekend. Planted some banana plants I found growing on the roadside. Bought some new bromelaids and meant to repot them but didn't. They'll be OK.
And spent some time with the wife too.

Typical

Today is Saturday, very windy, very cloudy, a good day to stay home.
I have my rebreather all put together though, just in case.
