Tek Week

Tek Week started last night with dinner, today is the first dive.
I'm getting ready to go!
Didn't sleep well last night, it was one of those nights where under the covers was too hot and out of the covers was too cold. Couldn't get jut right.
Looks like it might rain today.

Tek Week

Today is the first day of Tek Week. Kind of like Inner Space, but for open circuit and rebreather divers.
Last year I couldn't attend because of Hurricane Paloma.
I'm having a hard time without the wife. Nothing is very much fun. Hopefully diving will make it seem like she gets home again sooner.

Geni.com

I was looking for a friend on Facebook. Somehow I found this web site called Geni.com. You enter your family tree. It's pretty cool, and seems a little addicting.
So, this morning, many of my fathers side relatives entries have a little message saying there is similar information already posted. Which means one of my relatives probably already has an account.
Of course, to find out who, I have to join the pay version and not the free version.
It's worth checking out.

Late Post

Late post today, I had to get up too early for a remote broadcast.

Not much to say today.

Boy Dogs VS Girl Dogs

I never realized how good Ditto is till I got Sheba. Not that Sheba is bad, just kind of picky.
I walk them and Ditto takes care of business immediately. Sheba has to pee with her front paws on the pavement and her back paws on grass. She gets in position like a diamond cutter. Then it takes her 20 minutes to find the right place to poop. Sniff and stroll, sniff and stroll, stretch the lead just a little further than her slack. Then she puffs her cheeks while pooping (her cheeks on her face).
The other day I was getting pretty annoyed, waiting for her. She was looking for her spot, sniffing some old dog poop. I asked her if she thought she could do any better.
She did.

Crime Scene

Night before last something woke me up, I went outside and there was a huge fire. I thought someone was having a bonfire. The fire department was there and before I could get my camera the fire was out. Then I saw them walking around with flashlights and I saw that it was a car that somebody had torched.
I went back to bed, and saw that it was 5:14 AM, my alarm goes off at 5:15. Good thing it was a weekend.
Apparently nobody was hurt in the ordeal. The next day, the firemen were back, looking around and then a tow truck came and took the car away.

It was a nice car . . .

Two Yellowhead Jawfish, One hole!

This is video I took yesterday of two Yellowhead Jawfish. Ususlly there is one per hole, this one had two, as you can see in the beginning of the video.

Last night it was pretty clear, except for the clouds, as you can see! I got my camera and tripod out and took some pictures of the constellation Scorpius. For all you scorpios out there, that's you! Start of a long two weeks

I took the wife to the airport this morning. She's on her way to Costa Rica.

A perfectly blank mind

I'm trying to think of a good post. but I am achieving perfect Karma instead:

Trying to think, but nothing's happening! Like a car with a dead battery! Turn the key, not even a click!

I saw a movie years ago. It was about two girls and a guy in Greece. They were having a good time, watching The Three Stooges and laughing like crazy, then one of them left, and the two went back to watch the same movie and didn't laugh at all. Anybody know what movie that is?
Also I read a book a long time ago, I'd like to find it again, but don't know the author or title. It was supposed to be written by a crazy person, and there were several pages about why you should never go out with a girl with manicured fingernails. Ever heard of it?

That's my lame post for today.

Beach or Diving

It was a good weekend. We didn't dive, but we went to the beach. Our weekend routine seems to bacoming that she wakes up and does her Wii Fitness while I ride my bike to the beach. Then I come back in an hour and we have breakfast and the go to the beach or diving. Sometimes she'll take me shopping till I don't have any more money, then we go to the beach or diving.

Blog name change??

I'm thinking about changing the name of my blog to MarkD60. I picked First Time because I thought I had to create a blog just to read other blogs. Also I picked First Time because it was temporary and experimental, and after I learned what I was doing, I'd create a REAL blog, with a real name. Now it's over four years old, and I rekkon I plan on keeping it.

It's real easy to change, and it doesn't make any difference either way. Might as well keep it the same, might as well change it.

DInner last night

Last night was a Guy Harvey staff appreciation dinner, my wife works for Guy Harvey, so we went. IT was at Brazilian Churrascaria Steakhouse. It was good. Then we went to Royal Palms. It was OK. The band was too mellow, but when they took a break, it was better. I don't think the band realized it though.

What a pig

I'm sitting outside on my back porch trying to post and it's too bright, I can barely see the screen. ALso in the light of day I can see that my keyboard is dirty. Hence todays title
Today is the second day there has been a cat laying in the same place in the backyard. If I went out there to feed her, she'd run away. If I left the food there when she was gone, the chickens'd eat it.

Surprise

I thought that yesterdays post would have generated thousands of comments. Hmmm

This morning I woke up, shaved showered and got dressed and and got coffee and then saw the sun peek over the horizon. I remembered that in the winter, I'll get half way to work before I see the sun come up.

A couple weeks ago, I fixed one of our old laptops. I took it apart and cleaned it and put it back together and it works great now. No more overheating and shutting down. Yesterday i think I fixed one at work. The power seemed intermittent, and it'd shut down without warning and was just weird. I took it apart and saw a crack in the solder joint where the power plugs in. I re-soldered it and it seems Ok too! I formatted the drive and put the original software on and when I finish it today, it should be like new!

Work is fun when I am successful, but when I am banging my head against the wall, it sucks.

Yesterday I dropped off my car for some repairs and an annual inspection. Hope they go easy on me, money-wise. I drove it there and walked home, on the way back I took some pics:

Yesterday afternoon The Wife and I went to the beach. I did quite a long snorkel, I swam way out there! I took some pictures, nothing spectacular.

Memory Malfunction

If you'd have asked me two weeks ago, I'd have said I've been on this island 13 years. Then I ran into a friend who had been here longer than me, and I asked how long he'd been here. 12 years. I said "How is that possible? I've been here 13 years and you've been here longer than me." Turns out her got here a month before me, I've been adding a year each February and I don't know when I went wrong. But now I have to go back to 12 years and I feel cheated!

Yesterday the wife and I rode our bikes to a deserted beach. Here's some pics:

Yesterday I went out to get price quotes for a fence for my yard, then stopped by my secret beach. Months ago, I saw an old aluminum umbrella holder abandoned in the sand. I figured if it was still there, I'd take it. It would be good for a tikki torch. It wasn't there anymore, but as I was leaving, I heard all this squawking, and found either two tiny parrots or two giant parakeets in a tree. Cayman Parrots have spot on their cheeks, these have no spots. (Top photo)
Then I stopped by Sunset House and had a cigar at the pool. It seems Cathy Church has a new boat, that to me, looks quite nice. Hence the second photo. Looks like a sailboat with no mast.
The planes landing at Owen Roberts Airport fly almost directly overhead at Sunset House. I took pics of the bottom of somebodys private jet. Photo 3.

Last night was a great night for sleeping, it was very breezy and cool. Even though, I feel kind of cranky and in a bad mood this morning. We'll see what coffee, a shower and a bicycle ride to the beach do for me!

The Scent of Green Bananas

Tin-Peckers

They're not Woodpeckers, they're tin peckers. Every day they come by and hammer on our rain gutters. It sounds like a jackhammer, really loud! We thought we had one, but we have two! Every day the wife runs out to try and get pictures and they fly away, yesterday they stayed put and I got some pics from about 10 feet away!
I don't mind their pecking though, it gives the house some character!

No Post Today

I don't know what to post about today. So I'll post a pic.
This is the Kirk Pride, it is in about 800 feet of water. I'd like to do this dive on my rebreather someday, but my rebreather is good to only 500 feet. It can be modified to go deeper. It would take about 12 hours to decompress after 10 minutes at 800 feet.

Good weekend

It was a good weekend. It rained a little, nothing like expected.
Saturday was a huge sale at a hardware/lumber store that the Wife and I had been waiting for. We went and it was disappointing. Out of our list, NOTHING we wanted was there. The lawnmowers were way over priced. Like a $99 cheapie was $350 CI
I wanted a shovel, and they had one shovel like the one I wanted (Almost) and it was $44. With 20% off would have made it about 36.
I went down the road and got a shovel I'm much happier with for $12.
Sunday morning, while the wife was still sleeping, I rode my bicycle to the beach for a couple of hours, then came back for breakfast.
My wife download 'Queen, A Night at the Opera' for me, and I listened to it yesterday-twice. I haven't heard that album since it was on vinyl.

And now it's Monday!

Weather

There's supposed to be some rainy weather coming. It was supposed to be here yesterday. Today I am planning on buying a lawnmower.
