Not as good as yesterday.

Today wasn't as good as yesterday, not that it was bad. I woke up early, before the alarm. I was going to post this morning "NO Sunrise" because it was still pitch black, no eastern glow. Orion was high and pleiades was directly overhead. Definitely a winters evening sky. Winter is coming! I hate to say it! That fancy singing bird I was talking about a month or so ago is long gone! Probably down in Aruba!
I didn't have time to post this morning though, I had to go to work early. Besides yesterdays post was really late last night.
I had a split shift today, I went to lunch at 11:30 and went back to work at 3 for the talk show. Wouldn't you know it? It got cloudy and rainy when I got off and quit by the time I was driving back to work!
By dive buddy and his girlfriend went back to the UK yesterday. Diving may get a bit scarcer.
Everyone I know is a multi-house, multi counrty jet-set millionaire and I'm just a lowly working jerk! Poor poor me!!!

Well, this certainly is an exciting post. I'll quit before you fall asleep.

The day today was good.

Today was a good day. First I went on my turtle search beachwalk training. We found one nest and two spots where the female turtle got out of the water, checked out a spot and decided it wasn't good enough and got back in the water without laying any eggs. We marked the nests by measuring the distance to three points nearby and raked over the nest so nobody coould find it. It two months, we'll go back to see them hatch and help out if needed. the girl who was in charge was a biologist, if I had known what a biologist did for a living, I might have been a biologist when I grew up. She has placed a transmitter on several turtles shells and they track the turtles using satellites. HERE'S a link to the website where you can see the turtles satellite tracking info. You have to promise to not use the data for any evil purpose like turtle hunting before it will let you in.

Then I went and dropped my car off to get the drivers side window replaced. They did a really good job and found out that the glass broke because the slider broke away from the door and had to be welded, so they welded it and found a window that matched my previous tint and the tint on the passengers window on the other side. I got it back this afternoon
Since I didn't have a car at lunchtime, I walked to my super top secret near town swim spot. It's about a 10 minute walk from work and about the closest place to swim and catch some rays during lunch. I like it because its all old concrete work and looks like
somewhere in the Mediterranean. How would I know, having never been anywhere near the Mediterranean, but it's what it reminds me of. Here's a picture of the "Mediterranean" concrete work and rocks and one of me, taken with the self timer.
Click here for a short video of the same place. Like I've said before, my camera only takes about a 15 second video, so this video is just me turning around 360 degrees in about 15 seconds. Crappy quality. You can see the two ships, one behind the other almost, the waves that aren't usually there, an old abandoned swimming pool and the rocks that are in the picture above.

Tomorrow I have to go to work extra early, because of an outside broadcast that starts at 7:30. that means I want to be there set up by 7 at the latest. Also tomorrow I have to work late because of the talk show I always do on Wednesdays (thats why I went to Cayman Brac last week, remember?). That means I plan on taking an extended lunch hour tomorrow! AKA Split Shift. I love that when that happens!

Fire "Over There"

This mornings sunrise looked like a fire under the clouds on the horizion. Redder than bright red, a new color. When the color red goes one way, it turns orange then yellow, the other way leads to purpleness then blue. This was a new direction towards a redder red. You've seen it.
I woke up this morning with a song in my brain. Nazareth, Miss Misery. So as soon as my coffee was done, I put on my 2002 MP3 player that has been kicking Ipods ass since long before they were even born, selected the required tune, adjusted the volume to the proper mind shattering volume for music of such genre, and hit "the button" (play). Then I walked my dog watching abovementioned sunrise.
In a few I have to go to the turtle beach walk. Also I have to go drop off my car a the repair place, then walk to work. Maybe I should call in late.....
Have a great day!

Monday Night.

It's monday night. I hafta say I'm kind of sad Lentula Vitae seems to be gone, at least temporarily. Hope she makes it back! We all have our own little groups, our circles. Mine is different than yours, but still has many of the same parts. I have noticed that in my particular circle, we all seem to have started our blogs at the same time and I have been secretly wondering when people would start to disappear.
I notice much fewer comments and hits these past few days and it just makes me really sad. Not because I am a "comment whore" but you people who read this have become my friends. Socially, I don't really have much of a life and this blogging thing has become important to me. I go look at old posts and see where people have already disappeared. As I have disappeared to some people. I posted a while ago about how it would take an ever increasing amount of time to maintain your visiting friends blogs and searching for new ones. Maybe it wasn't a post on mine, but a comment on someone elses blog. I have notebooks that I have been writing in for almost 15 years. I can keep on doing this. It's the same as my notebooks. In my notebooks it was more personal, more personal content and not every day, but it is theraputical and good for the brain, like I think this is.

Today I was leaving work to run a business related errand in the morning and my drivers door window exploded for no apparent reason, I just got in my car, started rolling it down and I saw it shatter just as it was disappearing inside the door. A few shards flew around but most ended up inside the door body and now my door sounds like bag of gravel when I slam it shut. I have an appointment to get it fixed tomorrow.

Tomorrow I start as a volunteer beach walker, to look for turtle nests. We meet on the beach near my house and walk a section of the beach 4 times a week looking for nests, helping the babies get into the sea, and well, I really don't know, because I have to learn about it tomorrow. Coupla years ago I was on the beach and these girls came up and started digging near me. They knew there was a turtle nest there and had to check the eggs and place a marker. If the momma turtle puts the eggs too close to a street light, the babies can't find the way to the sea and have to be rescued. Plus they look at the hatched nests and always find some that didn't make it out and need to be rescued too. So it should be interesting and help me get out of the house more and cure this terrible sleeping late problem I have.

Another Day

Well it's Monday again, that means another perfect day, no breeze yet, pink / orange sunrise, and after a windy no diving weekend its perfect for diving - and I'm going to work.
Today should be an interesting because the girl who was on vacation should be back today and I'll be able to see all my mistakes as well as get a few questions answered. It's kind of like watching the "meal lump" go through the snake. At the end of this month, also this week, my input will show up upstairs at the billing department, there I am sure to be informed of any deficencies.
Anyway, my coffee turned out great today (it sucked yesterday, I used my backup coffee pot and it needs to be replaced)
I was avoiding telling you I had a backup coffee pot.

I'll post this now so I can do nothing for the last half hour before I go to work.
I know today is a holiday in the UK. Is it labor day in the US? Rekkon I'll be feeling like the only one on this planet working today....

Southwest wind

Yesterday morning when I woke up, I noticed the wind was coming from the SW, which is unusual. the night before, I could hear waves crashing on SMB (Seven Mile Beach) from my front porch. It's a 4 minute walk so guess SMB is an eighth or quarter mile away. It's pretty rough if ou can hear the waves from here. (In Cayman, rough is 3-5 foot waves, wich is considered flat in other places.)
The wreck of the Carrie Lee is on the SW corner of the island, so it was too rough to dive there. It was rough on the north too, so we ended up blending some gasses instead of diving. The current can be very strong.
This morning when the alarm went off I listened to the news and turned it off and went back to sleep. I just woke up and 7:30-ish. I slept really late huh? Are you proud of me?
So today I hope to dive but don't expect to. Maybe I'll make it to the beach or clean my apartment.
Does your spell checker work on this edit post window? mine doesn't seem to.

Saturday, August 27, 2005

All my posts have the same name.

I started to name this post "Another Saturday" but paused and thought I probably have several with that title, So I tried to think of something different.

Last night I didn't sleep too well, I kept waking up, thinking I had to go to work, then reminding myself it would be Saturday.

I'm diving this afternoon at about 2:30. Supposed to do a deep wreck called the Carrie Lee, but the breeze this morning isn't looking too favorable. We still haven't dived Funky Town. My UK dive buddy leaves Tuesday. That means Sunday is the last diving day for them. Yesterday we tried to do the top of Funky Town, but I had minor problems with my unit and we cut it short.

I was planning on going to the US this September, see my parents and sister, see my house in Virginia and just generally visit friends. But now I don't feel like it. Mostly I wanted to see this girl whose name starts with an L but yesterday she told me she's seeing someone and won't be available in the way I hoped. She was down here on a cruise ship several months ago and it was the first time we had seen each other in about 10 years and we really hit it off well. Really really well. It is part of a very long story. I could go and spend more time north and less time south, but I really have zero desire to go at all anymore. I've only had what I consider to be three relationships in my life. I do not count my ex marriage as one of the three. The most important of the three was with L. I plan on posting about the whole thing soon, as it's burning in my mind more and more and I'm going crazier and crazier being single and being seemingly unable to do anything about it. When I have a girlfriend, other women seem available, but when I'm single, I'm the only single person on the planet. As a rule, female availability has always been inversely proportional to my need and desire.

Don't misunderstand, I'm not a victim who's been mistreated and abused. I have a lot of faults and have made a lot of mistakes. I probably deserve what I got relationship-wise. I do know I have a great life, and I am grateful for it. It's just that the only thing missing is the girl!

Woke up this morning..

Due to an alarm clock failure, I overslept this morning and did not get up at 5. Luckily, my backup alarm went off at 5:30 and here I am. (What an ass! Who the heck has a backup alarm!??)
I'm glad it's Friday. Today is my last day (for now) of doing the station logs, The girl will be back Monday. I was just starting to get the hang of it! Today the work is trebeled because I have to do all weekends and Mondays logs.
I was walking the dog this morning and noticed the roosters crowing. Here is is a pretty constant din in the background, because there is so many wild chickens. I hardly notice it anymore, but if I'm ever on the phone outside, the person on the other end almost always says something.
This morning my coffee came out good. Yesterday I ran out of coffee and had to use my backup coffee. (What kind of moron has backup coffee!?!?) it's this old coffee in the back of the fridge that is really old. This morning I'm drinking new coffee.
Today I feel like everything I say sounds stupid. Did that sound stupid? It sounded stupid to me.

BBC on Rebreathers

This is a BBC Radio piece on rebreathers. The only thing I DON'T agree with is that I was trained to use only a breathable gas as diluent, not a gas that cannot sustain life like pure helium.
The audio is a couple minutes long, I hope it's not too long of a download

Back From the Brac

The Bluff on Cayman Brac

Got back from Cayman Brac yesterday afternoon, then I went to the station for a few hours to do some work. Then I came home and bacically went to bed straight away.
I woke up this morning 3:15 and could't get back to sleep. I contemplated getting up but I laid there till at least 4:30. By the time the alarm went off at 5 I was sleeping really well and it was hard to get up. But I feel good this morning and am ready to go!
Today I will unpack my equipment I took with us and play the day by ear see what else happens.

This is an egg house we saw on The Brac. I was unfinished for years and looks like someone fixed it up.

Got My Picture in the Caymanian Compass!!

Remember the picture I took of the twin waterspouts? Well I emailed it to the newspaper and told them I'd get a thrill if they put it in The Caymanian Compass. Well, they did, they put it huge on the front page! I got a big thrill! heeee heeee heeee heeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dont know what to write

Last night the internet was down here, Cable & Wireless dropped the ball again.
I have a list of things to do today, non work related and work related errands. Hopefully I can slip away today and go unnoticed.
I slept good, but don't feel quite right. I feel "level", which I can't really describe, but I think I would be easily irritated today. Just let me go and do my work and leave me alone.
My coffee is very good this morning!
Last night I dreamed about my Grandfather, he's been dead since the 1970's. I woke up at 12:45 and thought "better write it down", but I didn't and now can't remember the dream. I do remember there was something I wanted to remember about it though.

Monday, August 22, 2005

Dang!

I'm at work on a Monday. I am tired and would rather be home or at the beach or diving. I just remembered when I got here this morning that I have to go to Cayman Brac this Wednesday. That means no diving Tuesday and Wednesday. That sucks because I had dives planned for both days.
Does anyone have any cheese to go with my whine?

Just got home

Just got home from diving, it was a deeper one, 260 feet. The whole time I was crinkle crinkle crinkling on my water bottle and all of a sudden I hear "Muah! Muah!" (that's what it soounds like when my buddy is yelling Mark! Mark! underwater.) I look and he's pointing down. Guess what it was? Yep, a shark. It was a maybe 5 foot grey reef shark, no big deal. He never came very close. In fact he stayed below us the whole time, back and forth. He was definitely interested in the crinkling sound.
I filled the bottle up with air again and brought it to the surface. I don't think it will ever explode, I think it can go up to outer space and still hold the air in it. We opened it on the boat and it sounded like opening the valve on a scuba tank. It took a full second for the air to come out. I filled it at 260 and took it to 200 and had to let some air out because it wouldn't crinkle anymore. Then I brought it up without letting any more air out. 200 feet is 7 atmospheres. When I brought the bottle to the surface, it was at 1 atmosphere, so there was a difference of 6 atmospheres, That means there was about 88 PSI in the bottle. If I had left it full from 260 feet, there would have been about 118 PSI in the bottle at the surface. Hmmm, maybe I could get one to burst...
Anyway, the crinkling the bottle thing seems to work, the shark was definitely interested in the sound. I think they like it cooler than it is here. I had 86 degees F most of the dive and 84 at the deepest depth. I bet those sharks are staying down deeper where it is cooler.

Here's a picture of me before we got in the water today. I love this wetsuit because the zipper is in the front. I've had it forever, it used to be dark blue, almost black. It used to have long legs but I cut them off.

Not Dead Yet

This is a picture of my car, the one with the "bad transmission". I had another that I wanted to post but couldn't find it so I took this one.
today I went diving. We saw one Spotted Eagle Ray. I've been told that if you take a plastic water bottle down with you, fill it with air and make crinkling noises it will attract sharks. So I took a half liter water bottle down and did just that. No sharks. My divemaster buddy told me that 8 out of 10 times, he has seen sharks while crinkling the bottle, I've done it twice without seeing any, that means the next 8 times I will definitely see sharks! Ya Hooo! One cool thing, I filled the bottle completely with air and as I ascended the air inside expanded and expanded. I thought the bottle would burst but it didn't, when I got to the surface it was tight as a drum and very swollen looking.
Tonight I went grocery shopping. I spent $164 and came home, put the stuff away and now it seems there's nothing to eat. My house absorbed it. I did get cookies, but already ate the whole bag. Ginger bread men. And 2 cases of water.
Anyway, I'm in a hurry to post this, so bye for now!!!!

Twin Waterspouts

This afternoon I was driving to go do a dive at Funky Town and I saw these twin waterspouts. I've seen lots of singles, but I think this is my first double. I pulled over and took pictures. I think it's cool the way you can see the disturbance where they touch the water.

On the dive the current was too strong to make it across the sand flats so we stayed along the mini wall. Since I was planning on a deep dive, I didn't have my camera with me then.

It's a Friday night and I'm sitting home alone again. Oh well. Tomorrow is an early day any way.

How to Eat Lucky Charms

My favorite cereal in the world and quite possibly my favorite food is Lucky Charms.
But there is a procedure I must follow to eat them properly.
first, I need a huge bowl and a very pointy spoon, like a grapefruit spoon. And of course plenty of Lucky Charms and milk. (I drink only soymilk)
First fill the bowl to heaping with Lucky Charms, then add milk till the cereal floats and starts falling out of the bowl.
Then very carefully, using the pointy spoon, I eat only the cereal bits, avoiding at all cost the mashmallows. This may be contrary to your previous training and experience, but trust me, I am an expert.
When the cereal bits are gone, the marshmallows MUST uniformily and completely entirely cover the surface of the milk. If there are any milk patches uncovered, I refill the bowl with Lucky Charms and more milk and and again eat only the cereal bits.
When I have a the milksurface completely covered with marshmallows, then and only then do I eat the marshmallows! Then I put down the spoon, pick up the bowl and drink the pink milk!
As far as I am concerned, it is the only acceptable method to be used when eating Lucky Charms Cereal.

Week Flying By

It's Thursday. I am looking forward to the weekend.

At lunch yesterday I swam the half mile again then sat on the beach in the middle of all the cruise ship visitors. There were 4 cruise ships in yesterday so the beach was somewhat crowded. It is a good place for people watching.
Here there are cruise ships almost every day. The most I've seen on a single day is 7. This November, there are some days that 11 cruise ships are scheduled to be here. The government is taking measures to reschedule some of them. This place would be packed with 11 cruise ships!! It could almost double the population of the island!

Last night, I promised myself I would go running this morning. I used to run every morning before Hurricane Ivan, but haven't much since then. (A lot of people say something similar.) But this morning, I woke up and said "no way!" I went to bed early enough, but woke up super tired. Now I feel fine and am kicking myself in the butt for lack of self discipline. This morning I found myself showered and ready to walk out the door with more than an hour before it was time to leave! Swimming is good exercise, but it doesn't get your heart pumping like running does. I think that's important. And sweat. I think good, heavy sweating is important, your body gets rid of some stuff it really needs to get rid of.

Anyway, I have to go put my rebreather together as I hope to dive today. So If you're reading this, I hope you have a great day and I'll talk to you again soon. And leave a comment!

Hump Day Morning

I'm embarrased by my tiolet paper post yesterday. Today it seems stupid.
Yesterday I got off work at 8:30, the day before that I got off at 9:45. Guess I'm getting the hang of that computer program. Wanting More said I might start to like it, and she might be right. Of course, because I say I'm getting the hang of it now, It will probably explode when I get to work.
At lunchtime yesterday, I went to the beach and swam the half mile course and got a little sunburned on top. If you know me or met me or saw my picture, you probably couldn't tell, but I'm getting a little bald spot. No one else would probably ever notice, but when the light is juuusssst right and I look verrry closely, I can see it. Anyway, the sunburn seems to be gone this morning, but I hope it doesn't peel.
Yesterday my deep dive buddy arrived, but I haven't talked to him yet. He lives in the UK and has a condo here and visits several times a year. He was also kind of my rebreather trimix instructor. (trimix is the mixed gas for deep diving, helium nitrogen and oxygen). He was a student taking his trimix instructor course, and I was a student for him to teach while he was being evaluated. does that make sense? I was a students student.
Today I'm feeling like my blog is the most boring place on earth. I have nothing important or worthwhile today. On the news I'm interested in the Cypriot Airline crash and the Israelis pullout from Gaza. but don't particularly want to talk about stuff like that here.

Move over Charmin! or, Is this Bathroom Humor?

Lets talk about tiolet paper. What brand do you use? from now on, you can increase your stature and impress your friends by using Shi-Ting, the toilet paper that knows what it's for! Imported for those of us who care enough to use only the very best! No more cheap, domestic brands. Locals can't make decent tiolet paper, import the good stuff, made by the experts!

And while you're at it, check out this website, www.engrish.com. It has lots of funny mis-translations.

Getting ready for work,

Actually, I AM ready for work, I finished my coffee, so I'm having another. On a weekday, I usually don't have time for two cups at home before work, but this morning I do. My coffee at home is much better than coffee I make at work, I don't know why.
I get up a lot earlier than I have to, I like to have a little time before I go to work. I like it when I first go outside to walk the dog, it always amazes me to see the sky lighting up and feel the breeze. Once I get to work, I'm just like every other rat in the rat race, but I try not to take the important stuff for granted, and work and the rat race, in reality, is not an important thing in life.

Oh yeah

One more thing, the high point of my day. After the dive, I was taking apart my rebreather and cleaning it and eavesdroping on this little girl (11 years old) explaining scuba diving to her little sister. She was getting ready to go diving but her sister was too young. It was fantastic to hear, the only word to describe it is cute, extremely cute. The worlds youngest scuba instructor, and she was doing a really good job too! I could tell that in her little sisters eyes she was a hero.
Then she saw my rebreather and came over and asked me what it was. I explained it and she really seemed to get an immediate grasp of it. She asked VERY intelligent questions about oxygen and carbon dioxide. I explained how the air flows through the loop and showed her the scrubber. She understood it really well. I told her that my rebreather was made in the UK and she said that is where she is from, I asked her name and she said "Virginia" and I said that's where I am from!
Listening to her and her sister and talking to her really gave me a case of the warm fuzzies. It sounds really insignificant but it is a memory I will cherish forever.

Another weekend ending

Another weekend is ending, bummer.
Tomorrow it's back to work. I have to work late this week because that girl is gone and I'm entering the playlists for the two studios. Hmmmm Maybe I should go in at noon, after a morning dive the whole time she is gone... I DO have a deep dive buddy coming on Tuesday. We need to do LOTs of 250's and 300's.. There is a dive site called Funky Town I want to get very familiar with. I have dove it maybe 4 or 5 times. It is an interesting cavern type formation in the wall at about 200 - 300 feet. At about 250 is a tunnel about 5 feet in diameter, big enough to comfortably swim through. The tunnel makes kind of like an inverted, twisted, V pattern, with the entrance at about 250 feet, then up to the pointy part of the V at about 220, then down to the exit at about 280 feet, and comes out pretty far from where you go in. It's really dark until you make the sharp turn at the corner of the V, then you can see the exit. It is spooky and fun! I have only been through the tunnel once. It is truly a fantastic dive. I'd like to do it every day for a week, just to get ultra familiar with it. We'll see what my dive buddy wants to do. He might have students. I've been trying to get someone to dive Funky Town for a long time.
I went diving today, it was pretty nice. And I went to the beach this afternoon/evening. I have been having a pain under my right shoulderblade that goes all the way up my neck into my head. I thought some running and swimming might work it out. It felt better for a while. It's been bugging me for more than a week. I was swimming when the sun went down, and almost everybody had gone home. It was really nice.
This morning I was supposed to have a coffee date, but I called her and got her voice mail. I left a message and she never called back, same as last time. Last time I left 3 messages, this time I left only one.
Yesterday I felt kind of cheated, my boss called Friday night and said they were supposed to test the generator at work from 9 AM to 11 AM, could I go there and kind of stand by, in case anything went wrong. So I went there and nobody showed up. It was sunny all morning while I was at work waiting for nothing and as I was leaving work it got cloudy and started to rain and stayed cloudy all day. So I missed my sun-chance.
Aren't my problems stupendous?
I am really lucky to have such a great life!

My name is on the ISS!

My name is on board the International Space Station!
I received an email from David Poyer. He sent a picture and link to an article in the
Virginian Pilot newspaper. In the article is this same picture of Astronaut John Phillips reading "Down To A Sunless Sea", which was was sent up to the ISS on the most recent shuttle mission. Dave was writing "Down To A Sunless Sea" while he was taking my scuba class in (about) 1995 or 1996. My name is in the "thank you's" in the front of that book!
I am very proud to know David Poyer, I consider him a friend. He probably considers me one of his most severely googley eyed fans, but it's OK!
I read almost all the books he has written, and they are all excellent reading! My only complaint is that he can't write as fast as I can read!
If you like hearing about my dives here, then you would love
"Down To A Sunless Sea" and all the books with Tiller Galloway in them. The Dan Lenson books are about a Naval officer, they're really good too. (You know I used to be in the Navy.) Every one of David Poyer's books has been great. I didn't know about his newest, or I would have picked it up while I was in the US last week.

Tagged.

Debi tagged me, I've been watching this tag go around for a while, I was kind of hoping it would miss me, but Oh well!
10 years ago today: I went diving in a lake, and I was in counseling about my longest and most important relationship ending. I went out with Louise for almost 3 years and took her for granted. When she left I was devastated. It was all my fault.
I was working as a contractor for Space and Warfare Systems Command (SPAWAR) from 7 AM till 3:30 PM. I worked on Atomic Clocks and satellite timing receivers. Also most days I was teaching scuba from 4 till about 11 PM.
5 years ago today: I was living in hell, I was married. Before we got married, we got along great, we went to the beach, diving and we had everything in common. She changed abruptly at the reception. No more diving, no more beach, she hated it all! Any conflict, no matter how minor, she would lock herself in the bedroom or bathroom and stay there tilll I gave in. She never compromised any at all. The first time I didn't give in she stayed locked up all night and brought up the subject of divorce the next day. The very absolute first time. I'm glad I'm divorced. My only regret, other than marrying her in the first place, is putting up with the BS for as long as I did.
1 year ago today: I was living in the same apartment I am in now, I was looking at property with a real estate agent who refused to show me property in the city I wanted. I don't know if she's still trying to sell real estate, but I'm still looking!
Yesterday: I worked, you can read about it on yesterdays post!
Today: I worked today too. At lunchtime I went for a long beach walk down Seven Mile Beach. I didn't plan on it, it just sorta happened.
Tomorrow: I have to work for a couple hours in the morning, then hopefully do a dive.

5 snacks I enjoy: Chocolate chip cookies, green olives stuffed with jalepenos, Combos, Mandarin oranges in a can, cheese.

5 things I would do with $100,000,000: Have a big party, buy a beach house, give some money to my family, buy the radio station I work for and kick the competitions ass, Hire someone to run it while I go diving.

5 Locations I Would Like To Run Away To: I would stay here, I'm where I want to be. I'd check out the other islands perhaps.

5 Bad Habits I Have: Too passive, too aggressive, ignoring what my instincts tell me, following the same routine every day, trying to act like I think people expect me to.

Things I Like Doing: diving, swimming, going to the beach, kayaking, exploring new places, and sex (although I haven't yet figured out how to get sex!)

5 Things I Would Never Wear: Those baggy surfer shorts (they look like a skirt!), cowboy hat, earring, anything I don't like, I won't wear!

5 TV Shows I Like: I don't watch TV. Most of the shows people talk about I have never seen or heard of.

That video

HERE's a link to that video, it's really not that good, my still camera can take little short videos and at 60 feet the light isn't great because there is no flash. All I took it for is to remember how the soft coral was blowing in the current. Also you can see particles flying by. You can hear me breathing but it's really quiet because NO BUBBLES!

First day back at work

I just got home from my first day back at work. It was incredibly busy and a very good day. I wasn't even the door 5 minutes and my boss told me he needed me to work late.
Our librarian/program scheduler is going on vacation and I have been tryng to learn how to operate the system I installed a couple months ago. It is a part of the radio station I have always wanted to learn. It is scheduling the commercials and interfacing them with the music portion of the programming. You'll hear me whining about it next week!
On my laptop computer, I formatted the drive and reinstalled the OS, now I am having trouble connecting it to my network, I can take it to another network, like works, and connect with no problem, but I'm having trouble connecting at home.... My super high security is too superly high! I'm typing this on my oooooold desktop, Almost the same kind Adam and Eve had back in the Garden of Eden. Just a little newer.
I really want to spend some time on my blog, I'm excited about Putfile.com. I have been looking for a way to post audio and video on my blog and I can do it with Putfile. I have a crappy 5 second video I took that shows ripping current on a dive one day that I want to post, and I will, as soon as I get the chance. Also, more me talking, you can ask The Berkeley Girl, I've been trying to do audio since the beginning. And oh yeah Debi, I sound American 'cause I am. And I'm probably not the only one who'd like to hear your voice and see your picture too! Now you know where to post the audio!
I can't believe it's so late, I just got home and I have a lot to do before I go to bed. I'm glad tomorrow's FRIDAY!!! I'm not tired at all and I need to be!!
I can't wait till tomorrow!

Home again!

I got home around noon today, I unpacked, took a nap and then hooked up my new printer that I bought in the US. It took quite a while to get it working properly, it has a lot of features, one of which was giving me problems. Adittionally, sinice it's so big, I had to do some major rearranging on my computer desk.
For my dogs babysitter, I brought the DVD "The Incredibles" I was delighted by her reaction when I gave it to her, I told her I got her something for taking care of my dog, then she started lecturing me about why I didn't need to buy her anything. When I pulled it out from behind my back the tune instantly changed to how great she heard the movie was and how she wanted to see it and thanks and she said she was going to go watch it right now.
I had a great trip. I was a "guest" at a friends house. We went to drag races, movies, parks and lakes and bought a lot of stuff. We ate every meal out. It was really good.
I'm glad I went and I'm glad to be home.

vacation starts!

Today is my first day of vacation. I'm taking a few days off and going up to the US.

I'm not sure if I should take my laptop or buy a new one. I'm not sure I'll be posting while I'm gone. (Believe me, no news will mean good news!!)

Yesterday I was supposed to dive but I had to work late. Now I won't get a chance until I get back. I'm jonesin!

excellent dream

I had a dream last night that I was swimming through these small streams, maybe a foot deep and two wide. Like a maze. There were friends following me, walking and swimming, but I was just swimming. Then I came to this beautiful fresh water lagoon, the water was blue and the sand was white and there were these big crabs that could walk on the water. It looked a lot like the water on Seven Mile Beach but much clearer and you could see both sides of the lake and I kept tasting the water and it was fresh and tasted good. And it wasn't a simple round lake it was big and curvy and needed a lot of exploration. I was thinking "how come I never found this place before?"
I hope I can get back there!

thunder and my dog

Last night it thundered and rained and my dog woke me up to tell me about it. He sits next to the bed and sticks his face near my head and makes this grunting sound, then when I wake up and turn my head and see his face is about an inch from mine, I jump through the ceiling. Sometimes he licks my nose at the same time I open my eyes for effect.
So I got up and took him for a walk. It was those big tower clouds and clear around them so I could see the stars, clouds and lightning. I saw the Pleiadaes at about 45 degrees up so you know winter is coming.
Now I'm kind of tired. That means extra coffee and I love coffee!!!

You know, blogger has 70 colors, but it doesn't seem like that many are usable.
